Sylvia A. Hylton

Sylvia Miller Hylton, 58, a lifelong resident of the Kent-Covington area passed away on June 5, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She worked as an accountant at U.S. Food Services for over 30 years. Horses and competition in speed events were Sylvia’s true passion in life. She was a well known and respected champion rider. She was consistently in the top 5 riders in Washington and Oregon for 38 years. Sylvia held many offices in Washington State Horsemen and Patterned Speed Horse Assoc., including Judge, Steward, Treasurer, and Rules Committee member.
Sylvia also loved baking her famous banana cake and having family and friends over for parties, game night and dinner.
Sylvia is survived by her husband of 36 years, Dana, brothers Leonard (Sandy) Miller, Jerry (Toni) Miller, James (Ginni) Miller and sister Marji Velthauser (David); mother-in-law Shirley Hylton; 17 nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Marie Miller and sister, Judy.
Funeral services will be held June 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Yahn & Son Funeral Home located in Auburn. Please visit if you would like to sign the online guest book and share memories. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 6:00 p.m. on June 29 at South Seattle Saddle Club located at 22740 SE 228th in Maple Valley. All are welcome to come join the celebration, share memories and enjoy a potluck dinner with others who knew and loved her.
