Obituary for Lois Elizabeth Belcher

Lois Elizabeth Belcher was born August 9th, 1930 in Glentana Valley, Montana to her father Joseph H. Stein and her mother Mary Catherine Schuster. Her parents built and operated a livery and feed stable and her father was also the local mail carrier in Montana before moving to Auburn, Washington. Lois was one of nine children, four brothers and five sisters: Bob, Gerald, Agnes, William, Ruth, Blanche, Lois, Donald and Rose Mary who died in infancy. She survived her husband, James Herman Belcher, and all her siblings and died peacefully at the age of eighty-eight on Thursday November 29th, 2018 surrounded by her two daughters and one of her granddaughters, Ashley.

Lois spent most of her life in Washington State, with some time spent in California and several years living abroad. As a young woman, Lois worked in the Military Post Exchange at Joint Base Lewis-McChord as a cashier for several years. She always enjoyed a good party and military gatherings. Lois had two daughters, Kathleen Mary and Joan Lynn, both born respectively in Longview and Tacoma, Washington. She raised her daughters for several years in Guam and Japan. Lois loved living abroad and especially enjoyed the different cultures and ways of life. Later Lois worked for Boeing for fifteen years on the small parts assembly line.

Lois was a devout Catholic. Going to church was always important to Lois and she took her girls to Mass every Sunday throughout their childhood. Throughout most of her life Lois continued to regularly attend Mass and engage in her local parishes, Saint Vincent in Federal Way and Saint Theresa in Browns Point.

Lois always loved traveling and taking cruises and she visited many places including Hawaii, Korea, Jerusalem, the Philippines and Alaska. When she became a grandmother, she enjoyed taking her granddaughters on trips, for example taking Tara, Ashely and Kalee to places such as Texas, Florida and Idaho. Lois was affectionately called Nammie and Mammie by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two daughters, six grandchildren, and eight and a half great grandchildren. Her older daughter Kathleen Mary is married to William Wilson, and they have three children: Michael Allen, Jeffery William (who has four children: Katelyn Marie, Kevin James, Kyle Jeffery and Kora Elisabeth), Tara Dawn (who has two children: Brady Ryan and Cody Michael). Her younger daughter Joan Lynn is married to Carson Lee Cox, and they have three children: Justin Mathew, Ashley Bree (who has two children and one on the way: Natalie Lynn, Ava Grace, and a baby due December 5th, 2018) and Kalee Marie. She is also survived by her step-son, Thomas “Tommy” Belcher.

Her family is grateful for her legacy and the continued expansion and growth of her family.
