Thelma Nadia Brummett
Birth date: January 30, 1932
Death date: May 19, 2012
A short note about Thelma Brummett:
After a two-month battle with lung cancer, at 5:45 am on Saturday morning (May 19th), Thelma opened her eyes for a moment, slowly closed her eyes and passed away.
Thelma’s illness started in late March. Amazingly Thelma never reported pain; rather she had a loss of energy and appetite; and had to increase the level of her oxygen use. Throughout the many doctor visits and hospital stays, and her move to a family home, Thelma maintained her cheerful outlook and pleasant demeanor throughout her illness.
Thelma was 80 years old. Thelma made the unfortunate youthful mistake of smoking. Nonetheless, Thelma was a wonderful person with a full life. Born into the Great Depression, she was intelligent and academically gifted. A serious car accident that she was lucky to survive prevented her from continuing college. She married and was with Stewart until his death, raised three sons and retired from her last employer, GSA in Auburn. She and her late husband were long-time residents of Kent.Throughout her life, Thelma was great at crossword puzzles. She loved watching “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy”; even the night before she passed away. Thelma is survived by a large and wonderful family too numerous to list here.
After cremation, Thelma’s ashes will be placed with her late husband Stewart’s at the Tahoma National Cemetery.
The family asks that you not send sympathy cards, gifts or remembrances. If you would like to celebrate Thelma’s life, please send a “thank you” and/or donation to the following organizations that Thelma supported; or assisted her on her recent journey: Holy Spirit Parish in Kent, Farrington Court, Sipes Adult Home Care, Auburn Regional Medical Center and Providence Hospice (and to all the caregivers too numerous to list in this space.)
